Time Shares – Are They Worth It?

United Kingdom

Like many things in today’s economy, the vacation industry is changing as well. Many time share companies are folding or being bought up by others.

What is A Time Share?

Basically a time share is just what is sounds like. You purchase the right to use either a certain property or a group of properties for a certain amount of time each year. Some companies have you choose your spot where you own a week or 10 days and that is where you go for vacationing every year. Often you have the option of trading with other owners in that company so you and they can experience a different location. Other companies sell you the week and then you choose where to go from their available properties.

Check-out the Ins and Outs Before You Purchase

Many companies today are closing or selling properties which decreases the availability of options. You have to book your choice sometimes a year or two in advance in order to go where you want to go. Several companies have consolidated bringing smaller owners under new rules.

Upside of Time Shares

Having people own time shares means that there are deals out there for people who like to travel but don’t want to own time shares. Owners often advertise their week for a certain amount of money which covers their annual fees and cleaning costs etc. For the travelers it is a good deal for the property and the owners don’t waste their share that year. It can really be a win – win situation. Some companies even promise not to “recruit” non-member owners during their stay!

Is a vacation in your near plans? If you are a person who loves researching where you want to go and how to get there, go for it. But if you are one who wants to know that when you travel to certain places, you are seeing what you should see and getting the most for your money, you might want to consider a travel agent.

How to Choose a Travel Agent

There is a national society in the United States for travel agents. They work to ensure that there are some standards in the business to assure quality to the travel consumer. The American Society of Travel Agents is the agency to oversee those voluntarily registered with them. Choosing members of ASTA when choosing your travel agent helps you know they are meeting basic business practice standards.

Benefits of Using a Travel Agent

Travel agents are experts in the industry of travel. They can often save you money because of bulk buying or discounts. They can also act as advocates for you in your special needs for vacationing or travel. Maybe you just know you need a break but don’t have a specific destination, a travel agent can suggest some of the favorites. You can describe what you are looking for in a vacation and they can match your desires with spots they know about.

Travel Agents for Foreign Travel

If traveling internationally you may benefit even more than normal with using an agent. Travel agents are knowledgeable on passport requirements as well as immunizations for travel. It is like one stop shopping for travel needs.

One of the seven wonders of the world lies in the state of Arizona in the United States. The Grand Canyon will astound you from all angles.

History

This vast Grand Canyon was carved millions of years ago by the mighty Colorado river rushing its way from high in the Rocky Mountains to meet the Pacific ocean. Native Americans have made their homes along the cliffs and in the bottom of the canyon. The Grand Canyon looks like a huge crack into the Colorado Plateau. As you look down the sheer, mile high cliffs, it seems like your looking into the middle of the earth.

Stick to Budget on Vacation with Prepaid Card

Summer vacations are fast approaching. Most people have their vacations planned down to the minute and are eagerly waiting its arrival. Though this is a great time to get away from it all, many of us find ourselves overspending while we are on vacation. But there is a way to help you curb that urge.

The prepaid card is an option that many are finding to be very helpful in keeping to a budget. The reach prepaid card is one you may consider checking out. It has good reviews.

These handy prepaid cards are used exactly like a credit card. You can book a hotel room, pay for the museum, or use it to pay for dinner. Use it anytime, anywhere, exactly as you would a credit card.

Unlike a credit card, though, you have to pre-load the card with cash. How much you deposit is totally up to you. So as you plan out your vacation, it would be a good idea to make a budget, figuring out approximately how much you will need for the plans you have made. Add a little extra for emergencies, then load up the prepaid card accordingly.

There is no more need to be fumbling for cash, and no need to worry about losing money or having it stolen. It will be on the card, ready to use. Prepaid cards will help you stick to your budget plan. As long as there is money on the card, you are fine; once it is gone, you should be done spending. If you have planned well, you should not be overspending while you are out relaxing.

No Place Like New Zealand

Doubtful Sound in Fiordland, New Zealand on a ...

Image via Wikipedia

All the world over there really is no place like New Zealand for traveling.

Countryside

New Zealand is made up of three islands, two main larger islands and Stewart Island which is quite a bit smaller. The northern island is where Aukland is located along with Rotorua and Wellington. There are green hills, grassy farmlands and of course, ocean-side beaches. You can vacation in the farmland surroundings too if that is your fancy.

What to See and Do In NZ

If you like geologic stuff like volcanoes or geysers, the North island around Rotorua will be great for you. It is full of Maori culture as well. Most of the more touristy sites are on the South island. Milford sound is a popular place but Doubtful Sound has been even more highly recommended because it is less crowded and is an actual fjord system. Other places you might want to check out are Lake Tekapo, Otago Penninsular and Kaikoura.

Useful Info

Lots of people ask about driving in New Zealand. If you have a license from your country you can drive with it for 12 months. If it is another language other than English, you’ll need a translation. The currency is the New Zealand dollar. You can check for current rates of exchange before you go. Be sure to check for regulations on visas, passports etc. well in advance of your travel so you will have plenty of time to plan. Another very important thing to remember is that the seasons are reversed from the northern hemisphere. If you want to travel New Zealand in the Spring, go September to November.

Tips to Savings on Car Rentals

Traveling by car is a wonderful way to control your circumstances. With these six tips for keeping costs down, you can find an affordable option:

* Size Matters – If you want to save some cash, rent the smallest car you can possibly squeeze into. Why pay more just to obtain empty space? The beauty of smaller cars is that they generally come with smaller bills when renting.

* Time is a Factor – How long do you need a car? If it’s under a week, you might want to go with a popular car rental service. If you plan to rent a car for a longer period of time, check out the local businesses (after researching comparable prices with the bigger companies). Wheel and deal with the locals until you find an affordable, fair price.

*Promo Codes are a Great Way to go – Once you determine what company you want to rent from, search the Internet on sites such as www.offers.com for discount codes. A simple search can save you a bundle.

* Surf the Web – Aggregator websites can be your best friend, especially when it comes to package deals. If you plan to fly then drive or spend some time in a hotel, the aggregator website can hook you up with discounted rates.

*A Loyal Fan – If you tend to rent cars often, stick with one company you appreciate and join their loyalty program. You will most likely find yourself first in line for discounts and free upgrade offers.

*It’s Nice to Share – Look into car sharing to keep costs down. The option is gaining in popularity.
